• Say one good thing about a person each day – to that person.
• Think of life as a marathon – not a sprint. Each of you will work for another 40 years. How do you win?

Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this, some have entertained angels unawares."

Putting yourself in the shoes of second year MBA student who are about to graduate (yes, us!), what would be the single thing you would do in the remaining time at business school?
It's very hard for me to put myself in the shoes of a second-year MBA student, since I don't really associate with MBAs and have no idea what you guys get up to. But I'll give it a go. Being a second year, you won't have heard Professor Brian Bushee's excellent convocation speech to the class of 2011. One of his points was that there's no single Wharton experience, so I'll use this as an excuse to write about a couple of things rather than just one.
First, cherish your classmates. You'll never, ever again be surrounded by people with as diverse and impressive talents as those around you. There's still several show-type events left where you can enjoy their talents - the Wharton International Cultural Show, Fashion Show, Battle of the Bands, Comedy Club, Wharton Relays, Whartones Spring Concert, the Soccer 1st vs 2nd Year Challenge. Go to every one of them. I know most of them cost money, and you've probably been to many shows already this semester and might think you're at your limit point, but you just won't find such events after Wharton. You might think that some of these events aren't to your taste, but you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm not normally a fan of visual arts, but saw highlights of WICS and Dance Studio during Wharton Live in last year's Welcome Weekend and was impressed - the Indonesian hand dance in particular was incredible.
Also, the whole ethos of Wharton - trying out new things and meeting new people - is just as true now as it was in pre-term 20 months ago. Perhaps it rings even truer now, since you only have six weeks left for this exploration. It might seem ridiculous to suggest meeting new people at this late stage, but there are several of your classmates who I've just come to know over the past month or two, who I've grown to really like and who I very much hope to keep in touch with after they graduate. You'll all have your established groups of friends by now, but you'll likely be seeing them after Wharton anyway. When I think back to my college days, I most miss my more "peripheral" friends - those whose company I always enjoyed when they were around, but who I wasn't so close to that we kept in touch when I jumped over the Atlantic. In terms of new activities, my TA Justin Serafini took some of you shooting for the first time a couple of weeks ago; for a far more useful new activity, huge props to those who participated in the cheesesteak-eating boat race during last weekend's hockey competition against Tuck and Yale. That's a skill that will see you going places in your careers.
And these are also your last six weeks to learn as much as you can from world-renowned professors. Classes may no longer seem important for those of you who've already secured jobs - and even less so for those still searching. But the skills you learn here will hopefully be of use for the rest of your life. Get as much as you can out of your professors - if you think there's something useful you can learn from them that's not in the syllabus, meet with them outside class. If your current classes aren't what you expected, there's still time to audit a class that might be more relevant.
Everything I've said so far is about how you can get the most out of Wharton. But, you can also think about how you can give back to Wharton in this remaining time. I often say to the first years that the second years are their greatest resource. You can mentor others new to a career, subject or hobby -Jenn Chu is giving up several hours to teach this year's Fashion Show models how not to look awkward on stage - I still have a long, long way to go … Those of you who were club officers might be looking forward to a well-deserved retirement, but your successors will really benefit you showing them the ropes. Similarly, just going to the events I mentioned earlier is a way of "giving back" and supporting your classmates who've put hours into preparing for them.
